Innovative, competitive, characterized by a deep spirit of research and internationalization.
These are the main characteristics of Abiogen Pharma founded in 1997, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of Massimo Di Martino who, instead of selling to the American giant Merck Sharp & Dohme the entire family business, born in 1917 with the Galenic Institute of his great-grandfather, Commendator Alfredo Gentili, decided to keep part of the activities and invest in them.
Abiogen Pharma today represents a family business that has matured over five generations, with a wealth of scientific and technological knowledge that is the strength of the Company which operates in 4 integrated areas of activity:
MDM Holding was established on 4th of June 1997 and it is the controlling company of Abiogen Pharma.
The Holding’s function was initially as simple group leader and only in 2004 did it start carrying out an activity of strategic coordination.
Today the mission of the Holding is to manage the 3 subsidiaries of the Group in a synergistic and complementary way, to carry out a gradual process of business diversification by exploiting the distinctive peculiarities and successful know-how of the individual companies, centralizing financial management and planning investments optimally.
Among the companies controlled and completely independent of each other, in addition to Abiogen Pharma, there is the spin off of the R&D Division of Abiogen Pharma, Galileo Research, which took place in July 2011 and Gensan, a company that deals with the marketing of sports supplements.
The three companies have very different organizational structures, aimed at competing in the best way in the different businesses and market areas in which they specialize.
A further demonstration binding Abiogen Pharma to research and the medical and pharmaceutical culture was the creation of Alfredo Gentili Research Centre.
The antique St. Peter’s Church in Malaventre (first half of the thirteenth century) was the culmination of an ambitious and prestigious project of restoration, undertaken in collaboration with the Superintendency for Monuments in Pisa, of what was until yesterday a ruin, though of historical and artistic interest.
The name of the Study Centre was given in memory of Alfredo Gentili, as a recognition for the work done by a man who gave it all to his family, his city and to the development of a Pharmaceutical Company in our Country.
The creation of this study Centre was to promote the exchange and spreading of knowledge between the academic and business world, exploiting the know how gained in the pharmacological and clinical fields with initiatives that characterize the site as a permanent point for national and international meetings and training.
Although small, the conference room is adequately equipped with modern audiovisual and multimedia equipment, and the adjacent rooms are designed to comfortably accommodate Italian and/or foreign guests.
